10.09.15 A Letter by Non Huws, Ysgol Y Felinheli's ex-Head teacher, to Gwyl Y Felin's commitee (Welsh Only)

10.07.2015

Annwyl Gyfeillion,

Hoffwn ddiolch i chi i gyd fel Pwyllgor am y rhodd o flodau a'r geiriau caredig yn ystod Sioe y Plant.

Mae hi wedi bod yn bleser gweithio yma yn Ysgol Y Felinheli, gyda'r blynyddoedd wedi gwibio heibio.

Dwi'n gwerthfawrogi yn fawr eich cyfraniad a'ch cefnogaeth fel Pwyllgor, i holl weithgareddau yr ysgol, nid yn unig yn ystod ein Gwyl unigryw, ond drwy gydol y flwyddyn.

Mae hwn yn bentref arbennig, a'r gymuned yn parhau i gadw'r hen werthoedd yn fyw.
Diolch o galon, bydd Felinheli wastad â lle cynnes yn f'atgofion a'm calon.

Non

18.05.15 GRŴP IAITH Y FELINHELI and GŴYL Y FELIN 2015

OSIAN’S VLOG

Grŵp Iaith y Felinheli (Felinheli Language Group) brings together Felinheli people who want to see the Welsh language continue to thrive as a relevant and vital part of life in the community.

With the support of hunaniaith: the Gwynedd wide menter iaith, Osian Owen a member of Grŵp Iaith y Felinheli created his own vlog.  A vlog is simply a blog recorded on video:  video+blog = vlog.  The vlog aims to demonstrate to everyone how the Welsh language is part of the fabric of everyday life for a young person in Felinheli and how vital it is that the language retains its place at the centre of village life.

Osian’s vlog shows aspects of his daily life and how each aspect naturally takes place in Welsh.  As he takes a walk around the village he interviews several local people about their attitudes to Welsh and why the language, for a variety of reasons is important to them.

Grŵp Iaith y Felinheli hope that as many local people as possible get to see the vlog during Gŵyl y Felin week.  Enjoy watching it at:  the Festival launch at y Felingylchu on Friday, June 26th; in the marquee from 5.30 p.m., Monday 29th before the children’s film begins; in the marquee before the quiz on Tuesday evening, June 30th and again on Saturday afternoon in the marquee during the carnival. Following Gŵyl y Felin the vlog can be seen on www.Felin.org and on the Felinhlei Facebook profile.

After seeing the vlog Grŵp Iaith y Felinheli asks everyone to reflect on three things:

  • what the Welsh language means to them?
  • what kind of place would Felinheli be without the Welsh language?
  • what they can do to make sure the Felinheli will never lose the Welsh language?

Thanks to everyone who took part in the vlog:

Osian Owen                                                      Thanks also to the Gŵyl y Felin Committee, the Londis

29.05.15 Gŵyl y Felin T-shirts from Hunaniaith

During Gŵyl y Felin week hunaniaith will be sharing out T-shirts amongst young people in the village. Hunaniaith works to encourage people to use the Welsh that they have and to be proud to be able to do so. These T-shirts, unique to Felinheli and unavailable anywhere else, aim to raise young people’s awareness of being able to speak Welsh and that living in Felinheli is an integral part of that Welsh identity. Are you good with words and concepts and putting the two together? A catchy, short and slick slogan or saying is needed for the front of the T-shirts. If you can think of a clever slogan get in touch with Ifan at hunaniaith at IfanLlewelynJones@gwynedd.gov.uk.

13.04.15 Felinheli 10k Race 2015

Time to start thinking and training once again for the Felinheli festival 10k race (1/7/15).
Following some questioning of competitors in the race, this year we have decided to have a digital chip timing facility from local company TDL. We still aim to give value for money, however we’ve had to slightly increase the entry fee to £8 (£10 for those not attached to WA)
In the past, a limit of 300 had been in place because of the race’s popularity, this year the limit will be extended to 400.
Female competitors also note that the under 35 category has been done away with and replaced with under 40

Thanks to all who have supported it in the past and hope to see you again in early July. The entries were closed a few weeks before the closing date last year so please get your entries in early to ensure a place.

26.09.14 Felinheli Festival Press Release

Felinheli Festival’s AGM will be held at Y Felin Sgwrsio on October 22nd at 7.00.

Due to lack of financial support from the hundreds of people attending the annual Felinheli Festival Fireworks display and continuing stringent health and safety demands/insurance costs, this year’s display will not take place.

07.07.14 Rob and Alun Fight it Out

10k race felinheli vaenol The well established and ever popular Elim/Madoc Felinheli 10K race, part of the Gŵyl y Felinheli Festival, had yet another evening of perfect weather to ensure a good time was had by all runners and spectators.

The clear winner for the 5th time in succession was North Wales’ ‘top dog’, Eryri Harrier Rob Samuel, with 6 time previous winner (2002-7), local man and team mate of Samuel, Alun Vaughan chasing him hard all the way.

Another Eryri man in good form at present is Dylan Wynn Jones who came in 3rd overall, winning the over 40s. The next category winner home was 17 year old Rhys Llewelyn James from Deiniolen who took the under 18 prize in 40m 23s. Runner-up was 15 year old Llandegfan’s Garn Owain Jones having a very impressive run in his 1st Felinheli 10K and less than a minute behind James, beating the ubiquitous over 50 winner Arwel Lewis.

Cracking his ribs whilst training on Snowdon only 10 days earlier didn’t prevent Eurwyn Edwards winning the over 60’s prize in under 45 minutes. Whilst over 70 winner Emyr Davies’ time of 47m 32s was just as impressive - click here for more information.

poster pasg stwr wrth y dwr

Gŵyl Felinheli

Mae'r flwyddyn newydd yn amser i edrych yn ôl ac i edrych ymlaen. Dros y Nadolig bu llawer o drigolion y pentref yn edrych ar nifer o luniau a fideos o ddigwyddiadau Gwyl Felin 2011 a rhai yn gallu teimlo haul tanbaid diwrnod y Carnifal. Braf a thrist oedd gweld Esyllt Vaughan Jones yn mwynhau Stwr y Dwr a'r Noson Lawen hefo Himyrs, a dweud y gwir mi oedd Es yn mwynhau bob munud o'r Wyl!

Os oes gennych funud neu ddau y gaeaf yma cymerwch daith hiraethus ond pleserus i ddyddiau braf Hâf 2011 ar www.gwylfelin.org ac efallai ystyried beth a hoffech chi a'ch ffrindiau ei wneud ar gyfer Stwr wrth y Dwr yn 2012 (neu a ddylwn ei alw'n Es-Ffest eleni?)

Ac wrth edrych ymlaen cofiwch am weithgareddau'r Pasg gyda Gwyl Y Felinheli lle bydd cyfle i blant y pentref chwilio am wyau Pasg ar gae pel-droed y pentref ac yna croesi'r ffordd at Afon Heulyn i weld os ydi eich hwyaden chi wedi ennill £100 i chi! Ond cofiwch brynu un yn gyntaf! Hyn i gyd i gychwyn am 10.30 ar fore Llun y Pasg.
